Introduce about Builda

Builda is a phone application designed to help anyone wanting to create their own games on their phones without complex programming. Upon opening the app for the first time, I had the impression that everything was intuitive. To start, create a character and draw shapes. The times I tried incorrectly, the character would run around erratically but I went back and modified each block. It was not annoying, just like tryouts. Another feature I enjoy with Builda is drawing and creating characters. You can draw each frame yourself, including the head, body, arms and legs, alter the colours and pose however you like. After messing around with game creation, I realised that Builda has a whole library of games made by others too. You’ll find different kinds of genres by just checking them out. From platform games to a simple shooting game to a small puzzle game. When I used to use it for the first time, I always tried to play others’ games to see how far they have got in them. Some games seemed simple, but others shocked me with clever concepts.

When I confronted the reality during my experience, I not only played for fun but also looked within to learn how they logically arranged things. At times it would dawn on me that ah, they are using this method to make the character jump higher and applying it like so.

The replay feature is very interesting too. It is possible to generate an existing game, modify it as per your wish, add characters and levels. According to me, it makes it easier to learn how to make games, as you do not always restart. It’s like observing someone do something, learning how to do it, and attempting to do it your way.

User-friendly interface

Builda’s interface felt quite user-friendly from the first time I opened the app. The main screen doesn’t have too many buttons; everything is clearly divided: creating a new game, accessing the community game library, or editing a project you’re working on. When I first used it, I just needed to scroll a bit to understand where to click to start, without wasting time searching.

After using it for a while, I started to get used to the layout of the drawing tools, command blocks, and preview area. In fact, during my experience, there were times when I was drawing characters, dragging logic blocks, and running tests all on the same screen.
