If I had to choose one thing that sets Darkest Dungeon apart from most other RPGs, it would definitely be the stress system. When I first started playing, I thought stress was just a minor element, something added for show. Whispers, growls, and heavy, painful sounds of blows fill the air. But the most haunting element is the narrator’s voice. It’s not frequent or frantic, but each time it’s heard, it feels like someone is behind you, warning you that things are about to get worse. And sadly, he’s usually right.
